Chair’s Message: Welcome Back

posted in: Executive, News | 0

The 2012/2013 season is now upon us, so I’d like to take the chance to say welcome back to all returning players and a warm welcome to Scottish Korfball to those of you joining for the first time!

It’s a welcome also to our new website – please check back often, we will be posting results, messages, newsletters and anything else relevant to Scottish Korfball regularly. You can also now like our Facebook page and/or follow our Twitter account (@scotskorfball), where we will also post results, news etc.

Over the summer, the outdoor league was unfortunately scuppered by Edinburgh’s lovely summer weather, but there was time for an advanced coaching clinic with top international coach Daniel de Rudder (thanks to him for his time), the St Andrews Beach Tournament – won by St Andrews and the excellent inaugral Dundee Outdoor tournament – congratulations to Edinburgh City on winning that one and thanks to Dundee for an excellent day.

There is much to look forward to over the next few months. Trials for the Scotland International Squad take place in Edinburgh on 6-7 October; there will be a beginners tournament on 13th October, also in Edinburgh and refereeing mentoring/coaching sessions will be available, with the first practical clinic also planned for 13 October.

Finally, there is of course the new league season, with 30 matches to be completed by Christmas. Congratulations to defending league champions Saint Andrews University, recently returned from European competition in France. No doubt they are hungry for another taste of that action next year, is there anyone who can challenge them in the 2012/13 league? Will Edinburgh University 3 retain their crown as leading 2nd team? It’s going to be fun finding out!

I look forward to seeing you all on court.

Clive Minshull.
