New Year League Update

Here at the SKA we hope everyone enjoyed the festive period and is ready to get back into action in the New Year!

The Christmas break saw us complete the first half of the season in style. Going into 2017, Division 1 and Division 2 are headed by Edinburgh Mavericks 1 and Edinburgh City 2 respectively. The Mavericks top the league with a total of 16 points, +78 goal difference and a game in hand on their nearest rivals. Edinburgh City 1 sits behind them with 16 points and a goal difference of +49. Northern Storm are currently holding Bronze, winning 7 out of 12 matches so far this season and bagging themselves 15 points. Edinburgh City 2 lead the 2nd Division on goal difference but with two games in hand on 2nd place Glasgow 2. Newcomers Strathclyde University follow in third place with 12 points but a game in hand on the leaders. With some close results the second half of the season looks set to be an exciting one!

1= Kyle Crombie (Northern Storm) 52 goals from 12 games

2 = Daniel Pratt (Edinburgh City) 36 goals from 9 games

3 = Thijs Lepelaar (Edinburgh University) 30 goals from 6 games

1 = Jen Merritt (Edinburgh Mavericks) 26 from 7 games

2 = Ella Paul (Edinburgh City) 18 from 9 games

3 = Elly Gaunt and Heather MacKintosh (Edinburgh City and Saint Andrews) 16 from 9 and 8 games respectively.

Division 2


1= Nick Duxbury (Edinburgh City) and Pat Merton (Strathclyde) 16 goals from 8 and 4 games respectively

2 = John Bagnall (Edinburgh City) 14 goals from 4 games

3 = Nigel Cooper (Dundee) 13 goals from 8 games

Current top scorer of goals per game: Pat Merton 4.0 goals per game


1 = Rachel Thompson (Glasgow) 12 goals from 7 games

2 = Ellie Fairfoot and Tasha Jayabalan (Edinburgh University) 8 goals from 8 and 6 games respectively

3 = Katrina Caldwell (Edinburgh City) 7 goals from 2 games

Current top scorer of goals per game: Katrina Caldwell 3.50

All clubs should keep an eye on their emails in the next few days for information about the SKA Cup Finals. It’s set to be an extraordinary day so if you haven’t already, make sure you block it out in your diary! Saturday 18th February 2017 – come along and watch the Bronze medal match, Gold medal match, All-Star game (featuring the best of the SKL) along with competitions and games galore!
