The Scotland squad recently traveled to Prievidza, Slovakia to compete in the Eurobowl for a place in the European Championships in Portugal next year.
Months of hard training and preparation led to a strong squad making the trip out and after an inspirational trip to the local zoo, the squad channeled the power of the bear in a pre-tournament training session in the legendary Niké sports centre. A hearty Slovakian meal followed by an early night prepared the team for the Swedes the next morning.
An introduction by the Other Official followed by a kilt-rustling rendition of the Scottish anthem fueled the Scots to produce a stunning display against the Swedish team. An impressive 25-11 victory followed and all but confirmed the qualification to Europeans.
Two tough games against Serbia and the hosts Slovakia did not go Scotland’s way, however the victory over Sweden allowed Scotland to qualify for the Europeans in Lisbon.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our brothers and sisters in the Sweden team, who are retiring for the foreseeable future. We hope to still see you at the Edinburgh International Tournament for many years to come.
Trials and preparations for Europeans will begin in the coming season so watch this space!
